Once you get past the surface level of the daily activities, the gym is rife with issues that are red flags for any individual considering joining there. The random and reckless programming, inattentive and ineffective coaching, and sub-par sanitary conditions are among many problems the gym has and it spills over into the environment for the athletes.

I absolutely love CFD Bryan and Melissa are awesome people that really want to make you a better stronger you.

I love the staff and the environment at Crossfit Delirium. They are really welcoming and supportive. I've never felt more at home at a gym than I do there.

The owner’s boyfriend is the other main coach and while he has a better knowledge of things, often times he will be on his computer during your workout. Two of the largest flaws in their coaching are the lack of a warm-up and no demonstrations of the movements. Often times you don’t know WHY you are doing something (whether it be skill or strength based) or what the movement progressions are to get maximal results. In addition, you will be hard-pressed to see them demo and go over the movements and standards (which should be an everyday thing) and if it’s not something they can do or the owner wants to do, you will never see it programmed.

One of the most important things to look for in a CrossFit gym is quality programming. This is a crucial aspect for proper development of an athlete in CrossFit and enhances progressions if he/she chooses to stick with it. There was never a mention of programing cycles or explanations as to why we were working on a certain movement or lift. Far too often some movements would never be programmed with the reason being the majority of the gym were unable or unwilling to do them (which is why you have SCALING in CrossFit). On the other side of the spectrum, you would see some movements multiple times throughout the week, sometimes at a high volume AND intensity which is a recipe for injuries and bad form. This is to satisfy the owner’s personal preferences. The overuse of CrossFit benchmark WODs was overdone and shows laziness on the individuals in charge of programming. They attempted to push seasonal goals but often lost sight of how to improve said goals for the community at large. You would get 2-3 weeks focusing around it and then be relegated to the haphazard workouts that were written each day.

The camaraderie and chemistry of a gym starts at the top and it’s indicative of the ownership. If you are a female athlete, you cannot be better than her. She will make sure of that somehow. The owner also openly gossips and trash talks members and has even shared private photos of members that were meant to be confidential. Her and her boyfriend would often argue during classes which would make for an uncomfortable situation.

This is a glorified bootcamp disguised as a CrossFit gym.

This gym is great, the classes help a lot and the coaches are very interpersonal. I like how all the workouts push you to your limits and the coaches are there with you every step of the way. The coaches create and sometimes partake in these "Workout of the Day" exercises so they understand your experience. If you find it hard to be pushed to go to the gym or you feel like you're not seeing any improvement from your workouts, the classes help stay on track. They do not judge or discriminate from anyone, all are welcomed here at this gym.

Finally, the sanitation standards and equipment upkeep are well below acceptable norms. First, the place was cluttered with the boyfriend’s items that he would collect and try to fix. Their two dogs would leave hair and dirt throughout the gym that was NEVER vacuumed and it would accumulate in large clumps throughout. They’d also let them roam freely during some workouts which is dangerous. Equipment was never cleaned or well-maintained which is a breeding ground for infection. During the wintertime, the heat is not turned on and it would easily be in the low 50s or high 40s in there which makes it incredibly difficult to get properly warmed up and workout without risking injury.

Thank You Melissa and Bryan.

The gym is a self-serving endeavor for the owner to have a place to workout by herself. There is no higher priority than her needs despite what she may initially project. She is not passionate about CrossFit and it is reflected in the lack of quality coaching from her. All the while having her phone glued to her side during class, there is no continued education to improve herself as a coach or athlete. You will not receive the necessary instruction and cues to improve yourself beyond a very basic foundation. Having a sharp and attentive eye with the ability to walk you through a lift with the proper cues is essential to seeing gains but you will not get anything except an injury.

i have been working out at Crossfit Delirium for over a year. I love working out at this gym because I find the work outs to be challenging but not intimidating. The coaches are very approachable and friendly. I have worked out at WOW, Planet Fitness, Crossfit Domination, and Carbone and I am in better shape now than I ever was before.
